Axel Schier
I was born in 1964 in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany. My interest in photography started in high school. I bought my first camera when I was 16. In the 80s, I studied Computer Science in Berlin, and had less time to focus on photography. Nonetheless, I was heavily influenced by the art scene in Berlin.
In 1998 I had my first professional training in photography at the Centro Integral de Fotografia in Puebla, Mexico, under the direction of Lilia Martinez. Family and work life took precedence, so it wasn’t untill 2022 that I returned to photography by taking classes with Ricardo Carbonell (f64, Puebla) and Eduardo Gomez (alterimago, CDMX).
My constant curiosity frames my approach to photography. I am at home in Germany and Mexico, where I work and create.
